Digital technology is now a key feature of delivering modern education. However, the fact that it is by nature a fast-moving and ever-changing field can present challenges for those trying to use it. This paper considers the pace of technology innovation and the demands that this places on educational institutions that are trying to integrate it into their student learning experience. The discussion considers when we should expect to retire a particular technology, which sometimes happens outside our control, before we are ready or earlier than expected.
