Abstract

This research will analyze the effects of reading performance in association to mathematical achievement in Elementary school students grade one through five. In the last decade, mathematics has become a focus to be considered in respect to educational systems globally. Reading comprehension has been positively correlated to students’ mathematical ability and performance both in the classroom, and on standardized tests. This research specifically focuses on the association of reading comprehension on mathematical achievement, and vice versa. This research focuses on comparing data gathered from a local Broward County Elementary School. These findings indicate that there is a correlation between reading comprehension scores and student success in math. It also indicated that reading comprehension contributes positively to success rates in math classes.
