Abstract

The research work focuses on understanding disabilities in Higher Education and the challenge in cultural context. For some students, particularly in higher education, the challenge is often increased because of high expectations and lack of understanding by instructors. Students in higher education may face challenges as a result of physical or sensory impairments, but also because of barriers in academic and social experiences. Disabilities may also carry stigma in higher education, because instructors and peers have stereotypical beliefs about persons with disabilities and what they can accomplish.
