Abstract

Humanity has evolved through multiple stages of societal development, from agricultural to industrial through to intellectual, where we are now. The appearance of the computer has molded the construction of the global village, with no borders. In that context, the need for a universal language has gradually increased and English was in the lead for that position as it was already globally dominate in business and political communication. It would make sense for English to become the lingua franca for the virtual village we have created.
