Restorative Practice Role-play as an Assessment Methodology: Applied Learning in Prison Officer Education
In this research work the rationale for an androgogical approach to Irish Prison Officer education is presented. Following programme research in 2019, student Recruit Prison Officers articulated a desire for alternatives to written assessment on their programme of study, the Higher Certificate in Custodial Care. With the application of principles of Universal Design for Learning  and Restorative Practice , role-play was introduced as a mode of assessment. The research is on-going and student feedback on the assessment and feedback experience will be presented in 2023.
