Abstract

Different countries around the world are facing the production of energy with thermal systems in the current context of the sustainable development. This study analyses the production of thermal energy with district heating system (DHSs) in the Southern of Europe. The methodology used allows for the analysis of the energy systems as well as thermo-energetic conversion and the management of the energy throughout the different phases in a process of analytical hierarchy. This is carried out using a multiphase analysis based on the Spanish context. The results indicate that DHSs save fossil fuels, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
