Abstract

Due to increasing applicability of information technology to various aspects of life as well as rapid and the technological advancement witnessed in our societies today, there is rapid increase in the use of information systems in various organizations. Information shared across these systems is usually sensitive information that unauthorized access to may result in crisis. For this reason, access control policies that will regulate who get access to what could be deployed and keep record of all the activities in the system. In this paper, a security audit management system was developed that has four modules which are access control, a monitoring system, an audit log and a vulnerability test. To achieve this, UML tools were employed in the design. The designed was then implemented using Javascript, php and MySQL. The audit management system is robust against common cyber-attacks and has additional property of being lightweight and simple, that is, the proposed system has low computational resource demand.
