Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel hash function to be used on payloads outside the rails of a usual transaction — that is, through an unsafe communication method—to transfer Personal Identifiable Information in an anonymized yet still useful way to help indicate if the author of the purchase is indeed who they indicate they are. We demonstrate uses of this new information that benefits both merchants, issuers, and the payment network in deterring fraud and in expediting fraud and chargeback analysis. Further, we offer a pseudo-code of implementation, testing it on a public dataset. Finally, we address potential problems with this implementation and offer directions for future work.
