Abstract

In this study, a framework for quality management for the sustainability of small- and medium-sized businesses is conceptualized. The study’s justification is that South Africa’s government and academics are growing more interested in the small business sector as a means of creating employment and promoting economic development. This study analyzed the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are crucial to the generation of jobs in the construction sector as well as other parts of the South African economy. To understand the SMEs in the sector, a conceptual framework for quality management was created with a clear connection between the components. It was mentioned that the important trend of sustainable development is having an influence on enterprises. Sustainable development is defined as “meeting the requirements of the present without compromising the capacity of future generations to fulfill their own needs”.
