This paper is analysing the changes in the traditional role of the professions in the society. We specifically focus on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field. This research is studying how the models of work and the professional service process are evolving. We argue that the concept of the profession in its traditional definition might disappear in the future. We highlight the ongoing changes in the ICT filed and analyse their broad implications for the society.
