Abstract

Moderate to high-intensity physical activity (PA) improves physical and mental health and wellness. PA can also influence academic achievement by managing anxiety, mental load, and cognitive performance. Yet, one-third of students in Canada who were active in high school became inactive in university. Additionally, there is a high prevalence of mental health disorders (e.g., anxiety and depression) among university students. The purpose of our study is to compare the acute effects of two different intensities of PA using cycling and a sedentary position during a cognitive learning task on academic tasks and factors such as anxiety, mental load, and visual attention.
