Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating on the influence of parental socio-economic status and learning environment on university students’
motivation towards learning in south-west Nigeria. Descriptive research design was used, and the southwest Nigeria consisting of six (6) states. The target population of the study is made up of students in both public and private universities in south-west Nigeria. Multistage, stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the samples. Four (4) states were randomly selected (67%) from the six states, and students had been stratified into private and public universities as well as departments. One private and one public university were randomly selected making eight (8) universities.
