Abstract

Information technology is transforming almost every field of life as well as the education. The students spent most of their time using different types of IT tools at home and in school. In this study, the effect of IT was compared, whether positive or negative, based on students' demographics. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of information technology in education. The objective of this inquiry was to analyze the use of technology in the classroom and its effects on the learning behavior of secondary school students of Pakistan. The population of this study was secondary school students of Punjab province in Pakistan, and the sample consisted 600 male and female students of district Sheikhupura (marginalized population). Both private and public secondary schools were included in this study. In this quantitative study, the data were collected with researchers' developed and validated questionnaire, and the research questions were answered through descriptive and inferential statistics. It was concluded that IT affected the learning behavior of diverse students as they use IT for their learning and academic activities. The recommendations were made for students and teachers regarding the use of IT to increase the advantages and reduce the harms of technology on learning.
