Abstract

The environmental landscape of higher education has been changing due to pressure from both external and internal forces. Conditions and conventions within this environment are changing at a pace faster than they used to be in the past. This trend is expected to continue as the twenty-first century continues to unfold. Unfortunately, the existing management structure and culture of higher education make change very difficult. Nevertheless, colleges and universities must be sensitive to these changes and be cognizant of their implications to higher education. Existing administrative systems are becoming outmoded and need to be revamped in order to ensure success in an increasingly competitive market.
