Abstract

In 2016 - 2017, the Ontario Ministry of Education held public consultation meetings on well-being and what how it is being supported in Ontario’s schools. Following these consultations, the Ontario Ministry of Education developed a well-being strategy. The Ontario Well-Being strategy is focused on supporting students at all levels, including their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development, along with their sense of self and spirit. (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2017). One of the key questions for Ontario schools is how can we impact student mental health in tangible, measurable ways. To address this question, in the late spring of 2017, 30 educators from our board were trained on Strength Based Resilience (SBR). The purpose of this work in progress paper is to present our research methods, design, and the findings to date of our research.
