Abstract

Globally, overseas education at the university level is a growing phenomenon. However, few studies have been conducted to explore Canadian students’ experience of studying abroad as part of their university study programs. Using transformative learning theory as the main theoretical framework, this ongoing research aims at assessing student learning through their study abroad experience as participants of a summer field study program in Barbados. Qualitative data will be collected from interviews and reflexive journals. Narrative analysis will be used to identify change and transformation from students’ learning experience abroad.
