Abstract

Early language skills play an important role in children’s language development [2]. It is found that children’s language development at the
preschool stage is associated with their later academic success [1]. Language delay is considered as one of the common developmental problems of children. Language delay is also associated with difficulty in expressing themselves in writing and talking. To help the language delay children, it is important to identify effective strategies to promote their language abilities. “Dialogic Reading is considered as an effective strategy. This reading technique is an interactive storybook reading method. The aim is to improve children’s language abilities by encouraging children to participate in the story reading [3].” The purpose of this case study was to investigate the effectiveness of the dialogic
reading method in enhancing language and literacy abilities of children with language delay in Hong Kong.
