Abstract

Developing countries trail behind in many things especially in the technology space such as telecommunications. This concern has taken precedence on how telecommunications infrastructure is rolled out, what to use and how to use it. With the dynamic nature of ICT the major modifications and technological advancements are always meant to better systems, uptime, scalability and security. This paper identifies the security challenges associated with online services and the telecommunications industry from an African perspective. The paper assesses the security measures in place, suggests appropriate security mitigation plans and makes salient recommendations for overcoming the identified security challenges in online services and telecommunications in the African context.
