This abstract is presenting pilot experimental study conducted at a higher secondary school in a district of Hyderabad in India for teaching secondary school students about Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a focus to on people with disabilities. The abstract explores the study related to need of teaching able bodied secondary school students and educating about AI based potential solutions for people with disabilities, with the following perspectives:
• School Perspective: The necessity of early AI education focused on person with special needs, as in disabilities
• Student Perspective: The necessity of early AI education focused on people with disabilities
• The integration of disability-focused AI education in secondary school teaching curriculum
• Role of parents in enabling AI focused education for their children with special needs
The research was conducted with the objectives of understanding if teaching AI for People with Disabilities to able-bodied students leads to:
• Enhance understanding, awareness and empathy
• Ethical and inclusive design of AI solutions
• Developing problem-solving skills and inclination to venture into developing
AI based solution for disabled as their career plan
