Abstract

The study was conducted with 68 public university students at the level of MA and BA to compare their communication apprehension (CA) and their nonverbal immediacy behaviors. The research was done in a quantitative manner, using Personal Report on Communication Apprehension (PRCA-24) to measure CA and Nonverbal immediacy Scale-Self Report (NIS-S) to measure nonverbal immediacy behaviors. The statistical tool is ANOVA to compare means score of CA and NIS-S of three groups of university students in the study. The research results can give aninsight into how students feel when they use English (L2) and to what students see themselves on how they use immediacy behaviors. The insights can give the opportunity to the teachers and administration to build and maintain good relationships and trust with students, which is very important to the well-being of all parties involves in learning-teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) at the university.
