Abstract

Active learning is changing the traditional dynamics between teaches and students by promoting a more active role in the latter, hence new approaches need to be deployed for evaluation purposes. In this paper, we expose a team-based learning activity in STEM education, where each group of two members had to a make pitch presentation about what tasks they carried out to complete the activity and how they did it, which in turn was evaluated on a peer review basis. Such evaluation was done through a specific construct, which was previously validated by a panel of experts. The results obtained were successful, because pretty high marks were awarded, as well as internationally consistent, according to Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of reliability. In addition to it, the ISA engagement scale was presented to the students in order to measure their engagement level during the activity, which confirmed a high level of engagement.
