Abstract

The subject of the article’s consideration is the sense of competence, evaluation of one’s computer and digital skills, effectiveness of communication with students and effectiveness of one’s own work among academic teachers 60 plus in comparison with their younger colleagues. The current state of research relating to university teachers in the context of their age [1], [2], [3], does not provide a clear answer to how much age is a factor in determining their performance. The effects of digitization are undeniably spreading into all areas of daily life. It is changing the way people interact, communicate, learn and work [4], [5], [6], [7]. Therefore, the acquisition of digital competencies as part of the education that students receive as part of their program of study, for which university teachers are responsible, has become a key and natural need, a response to the deepening wave of digitization.
