Abstract

In the contribution, we present partial results of a quantitative research investigation, the aim of which was the verification of a monothematic set of texts with the theme of the Shoah intended for the first grade of primary schools. A total of 457 pupils of this level of education (i.e. pupils from first to fifth year) took part in the research. A total of 116 pupils from the 4th year took part in the research, and a total of 115 respondents from the fifth year. In the article, we present the result of the hypothesis, the wording of which was “fifth graders pupils show a higher level of text comprehension than fourth graders pupils”. The verification of this hypothesis was possible, because students from the 4th and 5th years filled out the same questionnaire. Based on the statistical evaluation of this hypothesis, it can be stated that it can be accepted – the students from the fourth year therefore reach a lower level of understanding of examples from Shoaprose texts and poems.
