Abstract

In the resource-rich region of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), STEM education has garnered increasing attention. To establish an understanding of the state of STEM education in MENA, the authors of this proposal had invited scholarly contributions to an edited volume. The resultant book, titled “STEM Education Approaches in the MENA Region,” provided insights into the constraints and affordances facing the systems and specialists involved in STEM education in the post-COVID MENA context. This research summarized insights from this text and shared their qualitative analysis of the chapters to establish understandings about the constraints and affordances surrounding STEM education in the MENA region. The Promotion of Social Change Framework was employed as a helpful structure for organizing recommendations for best practices for the successful implementation of STEM Education. It also offered ideas for structural changes that warranted consideration, based on these globalized insights from the MENA region. This approach facilitated a comprehensive analysis of the current landscape and prospects of STEM education in this vital geographical area.
