Abstract

Since the release of the pivotal research paper “Drama Improves Lisbon Key Compentences in Education”, jurisdictions worldwide have come to understand the significant role Educational Drama can have in schools. Yet as more teachers are tasked with in-class drama instruction, assessment of Educational Drama becomes more of a challenge. How, in fact, can one place a quantitative value on a subject that has for so long been seen as only having qualitative value? This informative and interactive workshop will take participantson a deep dive into measuring outcomes in a drama classroom. Rather than yet another session of endless theatre games, this presentation will allow participants to examine how one Canadian jurisdiction has worked to ensure that drama assessment is fair and equitable, all while maintaining the creative and collaborative nature of the craft.
