Abstract

Social Networking websites (SNW) provide a platform that allows people to communicate more efficiently with their friends, family, and colleagues. Motivated by the phenomenon of SNW use and the potentially risky behaviors it involves, in this work in progress paper we develop a model to study how SNW users perceive risks and its influence on SNW use behaviors. We integrate the longstanding research on individual risk perception and personality to assess the relative influences of the social vs. individual drivers of SNW use.
