Abstract

There is often resistance when a new initiative, campaign, or platform is introduced on Campus. Why is this a cultural phenonmenom at schools worldwide? Teachers come with a plethora of exeriences, background, level of skill and beliefs that can limit their desire to implement new or novel programs. It is important to understand as leadership that their resistance is not resistance or pushback to coaching or the campaign being introduced. Oftentimes, it is fear, overwhelm or even insecurity of the unknown masquerading as resistance. In this Presentation, we will explore some of the main patterns underlying teachers’ resistance to coaching and ways to see beyond the resistance to the root of the issue.
