Abstract

Globally there is a need to increase collaboration between Higher Education Institutions and PK-12 school systems to ensure future teachers are prepared to implement effective instruction in the current context. The Moroccan Ministries of Education recognized this need and took steps to increase collaboration between institutions preparing primary teachers throughout Morocco. This research study, conducted as part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Higher Education Partnership-Morocco (HEP-M), illustrates the potential of bringing educational actors together. In the Moroccan context, preparing primary teachers is a bifurcated system including universities governed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation (MOHE) and Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports’ (MOE) regional training centers (i.e., CRMEFs). This study sought to leverage this bifurcated system as an entry point to increased collaboration between the MOHE and MOE.
