Abstract

Religious education has been situated as a compulsory and a principal content within the education system in Saudi. This can be because of Islam that is a central component of Saudi society, dominating Saudi society and is held in high regard. As a consequence, the entire educational system in Saudi Arabia is designed on an Islamic vision, even its higher education system. The educational system in Saudi Arabia, through the religious education, seeks an educational balance in combining an Islamic vision and ethics in education. There are many policies and governmental documents that can illustrate this significance of teaching religious education in Saudi. Those documents might drive the curricular designers to consider on how to invest the governmental documents element, which relate to the religion and to the Islamic roles in specific, on the religious education courses. This means that those documents need deepand detailed analysis to find out which element must be covered in the courses and which course and educational levels are more appropriate to that point. Moreover, Islam is contained of three consistent parts; Islamic faith, acts of worship, and the necessary transaction in the daily dealing of a Muslim which can be described as values. Therefore, that kind of analysis can help in categorising the elements of the documents and policies and relate them to the most appropriate Islamic parts, and then to the courses.
