Abstract

Active Learning Spaces (ALS’s) are powerful and can influence teaching and learning practices. There is an abundance of research on student perspectives of ALS’s but a lack of insight from the lecturer’s perspective. This study explored the perspectives of 11 lecturers that have used a new ALS, in an Irish University. A qualitative semi-structured interview approach was adopted. Findings show a range of feelings relating to how lecturers felt as a result of engaging with a new ALS. The learning space impacted on their own personal sense of self, feelings about their role and their students.
