Secure REST API For ECommerce
Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of a secure REST API for ecommerce applications. Looking at E-commerce from a broader perspective, it majorly involves customers routinely exchanging sensitive information that comprises personal details, payment data, and even digital identities. The main reason for protecting data is evident in the potential consequences, including financial loss, identity theft, and a breach of trust between customers and ecommerce providers. Financial transactions are the major backbone of ecommerce because customers entrust various online platforms with credit card information and other payment methods. As our main focus security breaches mostly result in financial fraud and exposure of customers to significant monetary losses; the success of e-commerce businesses is deeply intertwined with trust and reputation. From the aforementioned, a typical ecommerce user must have confidence in the security of the platform to share their personal and financial information.
