Abstract

Critical infrastructure sectors, such as energy and transportation, are foundational to modern society but face significant threats from natural disasters, cyberattacks, and terrorist activities. As reliance on these infrastructures grows, so does the urgency to safeguard them and enhance their resilience. This research addresses the critical need for effective risk assessment and mitigation strategies tailored to these infrastructures. By exploring the complex landscape of cyber risks facing major sectors, the study employs a comprehensive risk assessment framework to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate potential impacts, and develop targeted mitigation strategies. Motivated by the limitations identified in prior research [1], which emphasizes challenges in critical infrastructure security without offering clear guidance on implementing specific mitigation strategies, this project fills a critical gap. It proposes a holistic framework that not only assesses risks but also provides actionable guidelines for selecting and executing effective risk mitigation measures. The aim is to enhance the resilience of critical infrastructures, ensuring their security and stability in the face of evolving threats.
