A Study of Senior Most Associate Professors Opinions and Experiences on Use of Educational Technology at College level
Abstract
According to P. A. Ertmer, and A. T. Ottenbreit – Leftwich. (2010) and N. Manochehri and K. Sharif (2010) that an educational technology can increase knowledge most of the students. Moreover students can enhance their learning and technology in a meaningful manner. Educational Technology also helps to improve professional development and increase social interaction of students at college level. Objectives of the study were 1) to look at the availability of multimedia, lap top, and other tools of educational technology at colleges. 2) to explore opinions and experiences of associate professors regarding the use of multimedia, computers and laptops at colleges 3) to search that how to integrate educational technology in the existence education system in Pakistan at college level. Population of the study was comprise of selected candidates for training in Higher Education Academy for Research and Training (HEART Academy) from the whole province of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Pakistan . They were seventy-eight associate professors. This study was both qualitative and quantitative in nature. According to LR Gay sample of selection 50% i.e. 39 Associate Professor were selected as a sample of this study. All associate professors had tacit experiences up to 32 years, unique valuable divers subject background and from different areas of the whole Province. Purposive sampling technique was used for collection of data. Questionnaire consisting of 24 items based on the objective of study was used for collection of data. Percentages were calculated to obtain the final conclusion of the research work. It was concluded from the study that the use of educational technology was almost negligible and 100% the participants were agreed for integration of educational technology in the present set up of education. They agreed that they have tacit, hidden knowledge and expertise but need to explore through new technological system. It was recommended and suggested that Government should take initiative to facilitate all colleges of the Province with new technology and equipped all college teachers on proper time with help of training in educational technology.
